Advertising and Marketing Amazon Products on HubPages
If you already have an Amazon account, you will have to sign up separately for an Amazon Associates account, which is how you earn money with the Amazon referrals, and so you will need a new user name and password. Go to the bottom of an Amazon screen, click on join Associates and follow the instructions. I suggest you use the same username and password or you will get confused if you use a different one. When you have signed up for Amazon Associates, you get a bar across at the top of your Amazon screen...
Go to your HubPages article in edit mode and add an Amazon capsule. You can either choose specific products or you can choose keywords. I usually choose keywords because if you choose a specific product and Amazon stops stocking it, then your capsule will appear empty.
If you choose a keyword and the product you want to show is no longer stocked, then it will show a different product. You can have from 1 to 10 items displayed. Type in key words and Amazon will choose the products for you. You can exclude a type of product by typing a word with a minus sign in front of it. For example, type “–blue” if you don’t want blue ones showing. If you want one particular product, you can type in the ISBN number if it is a book, or the ASIN number if it is not a book. You can find those numbers in the product listing. If you do list a specific product, then list a few different ones in case Amazon does stop stocking them. This particularly happens if you write a hub near Christmas, because Amazon stocks more products during the holidays. When you choose keywords, you have to make sure that what you expect is what you see. Sometimes it may take a little while before you are happy with the products listed that you want to see.
One of the things you can do with this is to put the same keyword in multiple capsules, but with different categories. For example, you can put one word in and list the product area as books, then in a different capsule you can put the same keyword, and list the product area as DVDs. Then you get different products in different capsules. The two capsules can be displayed side by side.
